Poland

Our school is situated at the edge of the city. The surrounding, where our school is operating, is varied. Mostly, it is working-class population with rather low earnings and secondary education.  Students mainly live in blocks of flats. The school is the only one centre of culture in the surroundings. Some students come from broken families or are brought up by the only parent because the other one has gone away abroad for paid work. Some students come from dysfunctional families being at the risk of social exclusion. Moreover, a group of students attending our school come from the surrounding villages. For years our school has had a god opinion among local inhabitants, it is regarded as a safe and friendly  place for students which is confirmed by the results in the annual questionnaire “Safe school“. The educational level is also appreciated and that’s why we have also more and more students beyond the region of our school every year. In the questionnaires filled in by all candidates to our school is indicated that their motivation to attend our school is the good opinion and the level of education. We do our best to see our school as the place which will enable our students the overall development. We organize “open day“ for future students, their parents, where we present educational and after school activities offer. The popular undertaking are festivals for local population.
All teachers are high-educated, mostly have qualifications to teach two subjects and constantly raising their qualifications.
Our school is an author and coordinator of the on-going project "The sea, my city and me" 2011-2013. In 2008-2010 we co-ordinated the Comenius project "Following the famous scientists", in 2003 – the Youth project "Leisure time of young people", in 2002 and 2004 we participated in other Youth projects.

Our school is situated very close to the Three Cities Nature Park  where our students often attend the live lessons of biology. However, the real natural wonder of the north of Poland is the Słowiński Nature Park located one-hour drive from Gdynia. The Park has been included into The World Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO and is famous for the beautiful dunes and water-muddy areas of the nature significance. Our school makes the field trips to the Park every year and we would be happy to show it to the foreign students and work there together.
